SHORTRIDGE DAILY ECHO SHORTRIDGE HIGH SCHOOL INDIANAPOLIS, INDIANA 46207 SENIOR COUNCIL SELECTS BILL EHRICH STUDIOS AS CLASS PHOTOGRAPHER Vol. 68, No. 24 Friday, October 15, 1965 Price and Jack Williamson will be at tackles, and John Andrews and Bob Stewart will be at the end ' positions, thus concluding the front line. Tickets may be purchased in the business office for seventy- five cents, or at the game for $1.00. Blue Devils, Cathedral Irish To Battle at CYO at 8 p.m. Don Benbow's boys will try to make their record 5-1 tonight as they take on the hard-hitting Cathedral Irish at the CYO fielo;. Game time is slated for 8 p.m. Cathedral, 4-2, Is ranked 22nd in the state; and Shortridge, 4-1, is rated third in the city. The possible lineup for Cathedral includes quarterback John Davis, aU-clty halfback Bernle McCullough at left half, and Mike Caskey at right, half. To_ conclude the backfield, .George* Simpson will occupw^he fullbac*' slot. On the line wiU be Stev^Pet- roff and Bob Williams at ends; tackles wlll be Andy Carson and Dave White, Jim Lill and Dave Kern are the probable starters at guard, while Kevin Killaylea Is at center. Shortridge Team Lineup Given The lineup for the Shortridge crew will consist of Sam Pride at quarterback. Warren Jackson and Rufus Payton will occupy the halfback slots while Bob Farley will start as wing back. Starting at center will be Jon Nygaard. The guards will be Phil Snor- den and Greg Louis. Clarence Bill Ehrich has been chosen by the Senior Council as the photographer for the 1966 Annual. He will take aU of the. senior pictures, the group pictures of the clubs and organizations, and the pictures of the faculty members. Council Considers Many Factors The decision to contract Mr. Ehrich for the job was made after a long deliberation by the Council ln last Tuesday's after- school meeting, in which such points as price, quality of work, and additional attractions were considered. Mrs. Mary Siegel, the class financial advisor, directed the discussion, answering any questions which the Council members had about the various companies under consideration. Although the main item of business was choosing the Annual photographer, John Brooks, senior class president, made several announcements. October 20, HARRIERS FACE SECTIONAL AT RIVERSIDE TOMORROW EIGHT GIRLS BEGIN CADET TEACHING Slight students from Shortridge are cadet teaching during their free periods. The students teaching during 8 and 9 are Katherine Anderson, Linda Blakemore, Linda Devone, Lorraine Golden, Sharon Johnson, Cynthia Lingeman, and Jane Mead. Ailena Tipton is cadet teaching period 6. The cadet teaching sponsor is Mrs. Esther Hillman. Mrs. Vera W, Hopping, director of instruction for elementary schools, spoke to the cadet teachers on Tuesday in the library. Roy Aberson's 1965 harriers face their first state elimination jrial this afternoon at Riverside course. Competing in the sectional meet, the Satan Directions Outlined For High School Day At Purdue University Charles A. Henry, associate director of admissions of Purdue University, has suggested that all students who are to attend the Purdue High School Day be in the lower lobby of the Hall of Music by 8:30 a.m. All visitor cars and buses should be parked in the stadium parking lot located north of the football stadium. Buses will transport guests from the stadium parking lot to the HaU of Music. Bus service will begin at 8:00 a.m. and run continuously to 4:00 p.m. Registration will begin promptly at 8:30 a.m. In the lower lobby of the Edward C. Elliott Hall of Music. Everyone must register. The program will begin at 9:20. After registration, students will sit in designated areas in the Hall of Music. All those students selecting engineering for their first choice of meeting will sit together; those students choosing agriculture will sit together in another area, etc. The members of the group should dress comfortably for there will be a lot of walking to do. harrier crew will be among 20 trying for the area title. "We won't be the favorites," said Coach Aberson. "We could squeeze through (the cut-off mark for the regional qualifiers) if the boys approach their capabilities." Among possible leaders listed by the veteran Shortridge mentor were Arlington, North Central, and Northwest. Road 40 (Washington Street) Is the division Une for Southporfs elimination center and city champion Washington will be participating at Southport. For next Friday's regional meet, the top four teams and upper five individuals placing will advance from sectional competition. The course used in the sectional meet will be the same one employed in the Shortridge Invitational last Saturday. 'Guest House' Chosen For Christmas Play The Footlights Club has selected as their Christmas play, "Guest House, Very Exclusive" by Reby Edmond. The play is about a woman who longs for a family. She opens an exclusive guest house and tries to weld the various individuals into one family. As Christmas day comes, they all have their own plans, and she Is disappointed. What brings them together is a story in itself. ,Tryouts for the play will be held soon. he said, wiU be the day of a yeU- ing contest between the seniors and the juniors at the Wood football game. Meeting, Dinner On Schedule A senior class meeting wiU be next among the class' activities, and will be Tuesday, October 26, ln the auditorium. A senior class dinner is planned for November 5, at 5:00 p.m., foUowlng the football game with Tech. The dinner wlU cost 35 cents, which wiU include hot dogs, potato chips, ice cream, and a soft drink. JUNIOR OFFICERS MEET TO DISCUSS CLASS FINANCES The Junior Class officers met last Tuesday to discuss the budget for the coming year. Colin McCance, treasurer, and Jeff Holmgren, president, had met earlier with Mrs. Mary Siegel, financial advisor; Arthur Shull, vice principal; and Dante Ventresca, junior class sponsor. Pam Percivai, vaudevUle program editor, reported that it has been decided to award ten dollars for the winning program cover. Junior Policy applications are due today. Policy members will be chosen by the officers next Tuesday at the officer's meeting. The Junior class meeting scheduled for today ' was cancelled. WIAN To Transcribe Ripple-Manual Game This Friday at 9:30 p.m. WIAN will present its first football game of the season transcribed from the Broad Ripple playing field. This game wiU pit Broad Ripple against Manual. All of the regular WIAN Friday night programs wiU also be aired.
