SHORTRIDGE DAILY ECHO Vol. 70, No. 61 Shortridge High School, Indianapolis, Indiana Friday, December 8, 1967 SIX ACTS TO VIE FOR SPOTS IN 1968 JUNIOR VAUDEVILLE Cuts for the Junior Vaudeville of the class of 1969 will be held at 3:30 in the auditorium. The price of admission is 25 cents and thc proceeds will go to the junior class. Juniors will be admitted with their class cards. Each of the act chairmen will be given 10 minutes to present the plot of the act, its costumes and music, and two singing or dance lines. Their presentation and originality will be judged by a faculty committee. Virginia Johnson, Vaudeville chairman, has announced the order of presentation for the afternoon. - Act I ls "Mischievous Mishap," written by Denise Mullens, Donna Pinckney, and Detra Moore. It concerns the problems which a millionairess encounters when she discovers that the island she has purchased from her niece's boyfriend is inhabited. Act II, "Cjrnfounded Confusion," by Ann Lieber, Janis Barnes, and Janet Teter. depicts the exploits of a country family, the Yokels, who are being pursued by a large company for the rights to a cornflake ma chine which the family has invented. Act III, by Katie Risch, Cindy Allerdice, and Stewart Hawkins, is entitled "Little Man, Wendy Wants You." The act takes place at a boys' prep school and a girls' prep school. The plot utilizes the eternal triangle: two girls, one pretty and one not, both like the same boy. Act IV, "Rescue Rendezvous," was written by Karen Williams, Carol Sharpe, and Angella Good- son. The act concerns four spies captured behind enemy lines who must be rescued by the greatest spy of all time. Act Vs chairmen, Ilze Kurins, Patty Kish, and Barb Burns, title their act "Whatever Happened to Otie Kyote." In the course of the act an Inmate escapes from an Insane asylum bent on trying to save the world from destruction. Concluding cuts will be Act VI, "Rich Rags," by Reginald Bentley, Gail Holden, *and Sandra Arringtcn. This act shows that money does . not necessarily bring happiness and that many people can be happy without it. Satans to Meet Wood, Pike In Friday, Saturday Games Wood's Woodchucks and Pike's Red Devils are next on Shortridge's hardwood agenda. Wood invades the Shortridge gym tonight at 8:00 and Shortridge travels to Pike tomorrow at 8:00 p.m. Satans Gun For 3 and 4 Shortridge wlll be after numbers 3 and 4 this weekend. Opening up with two tough victories against Ben Davis and Richmond (both were previously unbeaten), the Satans hope to regain the services of Len Taylor who pulled a leg muscle in the Ben Davis game and sat out Richmond and this past week's practices. Shortridge ranks 13th in the UPI poll of state high school teams and has scored 135 points. Oscar Evans got off to a great start hitting 57 points; 20 from the field and 17 free throw tosses. His effort has made him the second leading scorer in the city. Greg AUen, the floor general, had a great game against Richmond, pumping 18 points and hopes to do the same this week. Dave Holt bagged 13 points over the weekend. If Taylor Isn't ready, his probable replacement will be Clarence Crain who did a fine job last week in relief. Woodchucks Hope To Improve Record The Woodchucks have "-bad a rough start and hope to improve their record against the Satans. They have scored 173 points ln three games, the opposition's 207. Dave FarreU ls the 'chucks' leading scorer and the 11th ln the city with 50 points in three games for a 16.7 average. His best output so far has been 19 points against Beech Grove. Rudy Johnson (6-1, 170) is the second leading scorer on the team with 39 points in three games for a 13-point average, with his best game, 22 points, coming against Beech Grove also.
