Twenty-nine third' hour classes reported 100 per cent contributions. They are listed by room and teacher only, as names of agents were not available for all, according to Miss Messick. Those rooms designated as 100 per cent indicate that every pupil in the room contributed 25 cents. Overseas Group Prepares Latvian Program for January Originally scheduled for January 17, the Overseas Club will instead meet on January 31. The change was made because of test week. "It will be a program on Latvia," announced Bruce Pearson, sponsor of the club. "Ina Sal- mins is in charge of the program. She and others on her committee have been working to make it a success. As there are many Latvian pupils at Shortridge, this meeting will be of particular interest to many." Mako Hashimoto is president of the club. Club Pictures To Be Taken Tuesday For 1962 Yearbook JANUARY GRADS MAY ORDER CARDS The enclosure cards for the graduation announcements will be available at the meeting of the January graduating seniors Tuesday. Mrs. Dorothy Otto, sponsor, .suggests that January grads bring $1.00-$3.00. Fifty to Work on Cast Makeup for Vaudeville "Organization is the important thing in work on the Vaudeville makeup crew," stated Philip Hirsch, dramatics coach. "The committee has to run perfectly and efficiently," he said when addressing the members of the makeup committee at the first meeting Thursday in room 332. Fifty pupils originally expressed interest in the committee's work but it was decided lo cut the list down. Only 30 pupils are needed so a system of shifts may be worked out. Then pupils could work on the committee one night of the two Junior Vaudeville performance nights and see the show the other night. Mr. Hirsch Explains Duties of Committee Mr. Hirsch explained the work of the makeup committee briefly. Then Richard Kochman told the details. Pupils will work in an assembly line production. Makeup will be used on the leads for the matinee performance. Full makeup, that is for everyone in the Vaudeville, will be used on the evening performances held on February 17 and 18. The committee members who have had previous experience will work on the lead parts while the others will work on other members of the casts. Cafeteria to Be Makeup Room The east end of the cafeteria has been designated as the makeup corner. These passes will excuse pupils from class only at the time specified for the particular club listed on the pass and a time .schedule will be given to the teachers. Students are expected to be prompt in arriving for the pictures and in returning to their classes. Bev James Lists Plan for Pictures Other rules have been listed Senior 'Kids' Picture Milton's 'Paradise Lost' "This is- such kid's stuff," protested Mark Faith. "When do we start playing with sand and blocks?" This was the protest to an English VII assignment for each pupil of Mrs. Esther Hillman's second period class in room 233. The assignment was to illustrate what they got from John Milton's "Paradise Lost." All the pictures are centered around God casting Satan to Hell from Heaven, and the devil's nine-day journey. Jo Ellen Beamer presented a three-dimensional panorama in a shoe-box, with a blue background and a liny globe suspended by a gold chain. Stanley Scherr had gates of Heaven and Hell cut out so they would open. It had green, blue, and red backgrounds. Blue paper angels on cotton clouds were in Heaven in one picture, while the angels in Hell were red. Linda Hiner portrayed Chaos as a winged monster. Magazine clippings of reptiles were in Hell in Sheila Moore's poster. by the Annual editor, Bev James. On Tuesday, pupils are to enter the library by the south door, showing their passes to the Annual staff. They will then be directed to either the rrorth or south end of the library, depending upon the picture being taken. Only pupils with passes will be admitted. After the picture has been taken and an identification sheet signed, students are to exit through the north door where their passes will be stamped by a staff m ember. "Students -should return immediately to class and give the passes to their class teachers," says Bev. All teachers are requested to deposit all passes in a box on the counter in the office at the end of the day. The members of the clubs or groups whose pictures are scheduled before 8:15 or after 3:15 should leave their passes with the staff member at the entrance door. Jo Ellen Beamer and Mark Faith, picture editors, have urged that promptness is essential and cooperation will be greatly appreciated. The picture staff includes Tom Bose, Liz Carley, Bev James, Jon Kooiker, Dede Nie, Floyd Powell, Phil Power, Bill Steger. Karyl Stokes, Jack Turner, Aija Vlnters, and Laima Za- rlns.
