Seniors, Class of 1963 SHORTRIDGE * DAILY ECHO Vol. 65, No. 166 Shortridge High School, Indianapolis, Monday, May 27, 1963 Paller, Cornell; Ellen Pippert, Carleton. More scholarship winners are Pat Ramsey, Bradley; Jim Rock, University of Chicago; Gayle Russell, Ball State; Pat Smith, I.U.; Susie Sebree, Methodist Hospital School of Nursing; ('.wen Solomon, Indiana State; Trudy Urban, Butler; Jessica Vestal, Butler, and Kirby Williams, Howard. MANY SENIORS RECEIVE SCHOLARSHIPS TO COLLEGES THROUGHOUT COUNTRY Ma*ny seniors have received scholarships to the college of their choice and have notified the Guidance Office of these awards. The list of prospective graduates, as announced in the auditorium, who have won scholarships is as follows: John Allerdice, Kenyon; Bobble Baldwin, Earlham; Susie Beamer, I.U.; Linda Bennett, I.U.; Eileen Bill, MacMurray; Dave Bourke, University of Miami; Betsy Buck, Wittenberg; Tim Clague, Butler; Jean Conley, St. Mary's; Paul Davis, Butler; Dennis Dowdell, Central State College; Cig Dunn, Butler; Tom Ehrich, Williams. Others include Nancy Fishback, I.U.; Jean Gantz, LU.; Harry Gonyer, Ball State; Nancy Holsapple, DePauw; Steve Hopper, Wabash; Nedra Johnson, Butler; Baiba Kurins, Purdue; Dick Lee, Butler; John Marquis, I.U.; Cynthia Mauck, Wellesley; Dick Midkiff, U.S. Air Force Academy; Dave L. Miller, Transylvania; Dave V. Miller, Butler; Sharon Moore, Purdue; Ralph Moss, Hanover; Alan WIAN HONORS PERSONNEL Five WIAN staff members will receive pins for having completed the four qualifications. Seniors Bob Jackson, Mike Keys, and Jim Rock will receive pins, as will juniors Mack Thomas and Ed Worth. Requirements for pins include three semesters on WIAN, 40 hours of service in addition to that for which credit was received, proven ability in the field of broadcasting, and a professional attitude toward operation of WIAN. Receiving special award certificates for serving a maximum of six semesters will be seniors Nancy Fishback and Steve Thurman. Both received WIAN pins last year. Mike James and Rick Lehner will receive certificates for outstanding first year staff members on WIAN. SENIORS PUBLISH SPECIAL EDITION This special edition of the Echo is devoted to the Senior Class of 1963, its activities and accomplishments. Bobbie Baldwin edited the paper. Bob Jackson complied the sports summary, taking time to get all the participants' names that he could find. Nedra Johnson wrote several of the stories. Tom Ehrich and Dave MiUer wrote a special "From Now" column keyed to the final activities of the class. Martha McWilliams has tried to include as many seniors as possible In the story of the future plans of Shortridgers. She gathered the Information which Grant Shipley alphabetized and wrote. Editors to Recieve Matrix Awards Matrix awards are given to senior Echo editors. Receiving them this year are Bobbie Bald- -wln, Nedra Johnson, and Martha McWilliams. Special Matrix awards will be given to Robert Jackson, sports editor; and David V. Miller, circulation. Members of Quill and Scroll are John Allerdice, Roberta Baldwin, Richard Brewer, Thomas Ehrich, Robert Evans, Harry Gonyer, Robert Jackson, Nedra Johnson, Michael Keys, Martha McWilliams, David Van Miller, Honor Moore, Sharon Moore, Frank Phillippi, Steve Power, Thomas Russell, Grant Shipley, Sonja Van Beurden, Marylynn Williamson. Seniors Plan to Go East, West, Far, Near in Fall Many members of this year's senior class plan to attend colleges and universities.
