TOURNEY TICKETS ON SALE MONDAY That tickets for the city basketball tourney are to be on sale Monday in the business office was announced by Robert Nipper, athletic director. Only 3.000 tickets will be sold, and of these Shortridge has an allotment of 474. The city tourney will be held on December 29 and 30. Shortridge will play its first game against Manual. Students who plan to attend the games should buy their tickets early to be sure of a seat. SHS MAT MEN TO HEAD TO CITY TOURNEY MEET German CluhkMemhers Have Christmas Party At the German Club Christ- ma.s party Tuesday Miss Louise Reiter, sponsor, took up a col-" lection to send English-German tapes overseas to German student*. In return the German students will send German-English tapes to Shortridge for the language lab. The club then sang Christmas carols while refreshments were being brought in, and some records of German carols were played. Classical Music Club Makes Publicity Plans for Joint Celebration The Classical Music Club meeting Tuesday was busy with plans for a combination Christmas-Beethoven's birthday celebration to be held Tuesday in room 409. In discussing how to publicize the party suggestions such as setting up a speaker system in the cafeteria and putting posters everywhere in the school were submitted. Cardboard was distributed for members to use in making their posters. SHS Blue Devils To Battle Anderson Team Saturday Tomorrow night at Anderson the Blue Devils will be chasing after their fourth straight victory over Anderson High School. The series between these two teams dates back to the 1935 basketball season when coach Kenneth Peterman piloted the Blue Devils to a 26 to 24 victory, but later that season absorbed a 2-point loss in the regionals, 23 to 21. Since that first game in 1935, Anderson has copped 15 games to only six for Shortrdige. It is surprising to notice that 13 of the 21 games between these two teams have been decided by nine or less points. Anderson won nine straight games from 1938 to 1945, but when Jerry Steiner took over as head coach in the 1946-47 season, the Satans rallied to a 37 to 32 victory. Since that game, each team has won four games, with the Satans taking the last three under the excellent coaching staff headed by Cleon Reynolds. Reynolds' squads have won three of the last six games and they will try to take the advantage of the series tomorrow night. Shortridge will be after the third victory of the season against two setbacks, both to the top teams in the state. After last week's stunning 104 to 47 loss to Kokomo, the Reynolds- men should be rarin' to get a victory to add to the string, with Ronnie Thomas and Calvin Foster heading the scoring list. A relatively young Shortridge •wrestling team that is still in ' the throes of developing its potential power will head into the city wrestling tourney tomorrow at Manual. The contest has been a perennial struggle between three city powers—Shortridge. Broad Ripple, and Manual- for the past few years. But this year should see a decided change in this. The balance of strength has swung away from these squads, and now is more or less equalized throughout the city. Shortridge will enter men al every weight except heavyweight. The morning session starts at 9:00. with the semifinal round at 2:00. At 7:00 the consolations and the finals get underway. Shortridge entrants and their first round opponents are 95—Earle vs. Burre iSc.H.t. 103—Robinson vs. Harris (AHi. 112—Payne vs. yet to be named i Cath. i. 120—Garrett vs. Childers iMi. 127—Mitchell, first round bye. 133—Johnson, first round bye. 138—Kanepejs vs. Graves iMi. 145—Blackwell vs. Bcesom 'Sr. H.l. 154—Maxey vs. Jones (Wood). 165—Wells vs. yet to be named 'D.F.). 175—Poole, first round bye. Decorations Appear Various organizations have had a hand in decorating the school for the Christmas holidays. Key Club made and hung the wreath at the main entrance to the building, and the Student Board is responsible for the cafeteria Christmas tree.
