Coffee Shop Committee Prepares for Patrons Mr. and Mrs. Charles Durbin, chairmen of the Coffee Shop, will serve customers in 232. The Coffee Shop is being decorated by Mr. and Mrs. Donald Faro to carry out this year's theme, "Skyline U.S.A." The committee consists of Mr. and Mrs. J. B. DerfUnger, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur D. Galloway, Mrs. Betty Gomnes, Mr. and Mrs. Chester Harris, Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Thatcher, Mr. and Mrs. Meyer Sagalowsky, Mr. and Mrs. W. Vernon Schultz, Mr. and Mrs. Victor Seiter, Mr. and Mrs. George Vyverberg, and Mr. and Mrs. A. D. Wiles. World's First High School Daily Newspaper SHORTRIDGE DAILY ECHO Vol. 63, No. 47 Shortridge High School, Indianapolis, Friday, November 18, 1960 3 Cents Nick Keseric to Travel With Clobetrotters Nick Keseric, Shortridge grad of 1960 and former baton twirler with the SHS band, has signed a year's contract with the Harlem Globetrotters. Traveling with the Globetrotters will give Nick the opportunity to visit almost every state in the Union plus eight foreign countries. Nick came to Shortridge from Spring Valley, Indiana, for his senior year of high school. FROLIC OFFERS FUN, GAIETY, GOOD TIMES The Family Frolic has been a tradition at Shortridge for many years, and each year it has been bigger and better. Friday, November 18 (that's tonight, everyone!) is the date for this year's gala event, "Skylines, U.S.A." THREE TOP TEAMS ADDED TO SATAN NET SCHEDULE One good city five, one fine county outfit, and one consistently rugged out-of-town squad have been added to this season's varsity basketball schedule. To make room for the three added schools, two teams were dropped and the schedule was brought up to the 18 games plus tourneys scheduled by the IHSAA. A new north side rival, North Central, will provide the opposition in the Satans' opener at Butler fieldhouse. Later in the campaign, specifically December 23, the Blue Devils will trade baskets with up - and - coming city foe Wood. Then, on January 28 comes a real rough one. Shortridge will travel to Muncie to meet the Bearcats, rated number one in the state all last season and state tourney run ner-up. Howe and Ft. Wayne South Side are not Included in this campaign. The vice-president, Judy Gerdts, is in charge this year. Her committee is Barney Barry, Randy Beck, Patty Bloom, Aletha HIU, Linda Lohmann, Dana MacDougall, Jennie Neff, and Patty Sutton. These nine girls met Tuesday afternoon in the cafeteria and chose the colors for the senior class ribbons for this year. After the ribbons have been ordered and received, the final duty of the girls is to tie them and to get them ready to be passed out. The only seniors who will receive the ribbons are those who have paid their dues. The colors are not disclosed until the day they are worn. The colors last year were green and brown. funny and exciting for every member of the family. The family can begin by having a delicious fried chicken dinner (or salmon if preferred) to the cafeteria (5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.). The charga for this dinner Is only $1.50, a small price for such "good satin'." After dinner Sis and Mom might enjoy the Fashion Show (cafeteria, 7:30 and 9:00 p.m.). All the latest fashions will be modeled by junior and senior girls previously chosen for this job. Little Brother will have loads of fun ln the Game Room (second floor—gym) winning prizes for everyone. Mom and Dad can visit the Candy Shop, Coffee Shop, Rummage Sale, and the "Second Hand Store" while waiting for the kids. The Hobby rooms (205, 211, and 215) should prove interesting for everyone In the family. A perfect ending for aT happy' evening is this year's^musi-.al, "Pajama Game." This hilarious (Continued on page four) Underclassman Photos Planned for November 28 Attention, underclassmen! Underclassman pictures for the 1961 Shortridge Annual will be taken Monday, November 28. Students will be excused from their English classes for this purpose. All underclassmen (freshmen, sophomores, juniors, and nongraduating seniors) should wear dark colors; boys may wear suits and ties if they wish. The pictures will be taken in the auditorium, periods 1-8. If the pupil is in both a required and an elective English course, he Is to go with the REQUIRED English class. If he is only In an elective English course, he will go with that class. If the student Is NOT enrolled in an English class this semester, he should report to the auditorium during home room after attendance has been taken. Four cameras will be set up in the auditorium for these pictures. Pupils are to sit quietly with their class In the assigned place until their turn. They are asked to fill out all required information accurately and correctly.
