ATHENAEUM TURNERS ORCHESTRA
September 8, 1985
Dear Music Maker,
Some people could say that we are the hardest working community orchestra
in the state, if not the country. I have never seen nor heard of a group that gives
as many performances as a volunteer ensemble as the Athenaeum Turners Orchestra. But
then there are those of us who would insist that we do not work hard; because to us
it is not work. It is fun. It is very satisfying to provide good music and to share
talents with patrons of the club and members of the community.
With that in mind, shall we add yet another concert? On Wednesday, September 18,
the Athenaeum is sponsoring a "neighborhood party" for the residents in the Lockerbie
area. This is an important community and public relations event for the club. They
would love to have the orchestra perform. So although we have three (!) other performances
the same week, if you can sacrifice your Wednesday (6:00P.M.-7:30 or so) we will have an
appreciative audience. One more evening of fun. The following Friday is the beginning
of the Otoberfest as well as the concert at Park Tudor (see enclosed map). The Park
Tudor concert will benefit the 100 students attending the school on scholarship.
Don't forget Irma Mae's picnic on the 15th. Her house is also on the map.
