News and Notes of The Athenaeum Pops Orchestra
Friday, April 5,2002
Welcome to tonight's rehearsal. We'll continue
the work that has begun on highlights from
American musical theatre. Remember that in the
beginning rehearsing large selections can be
tedious. Please be patient with me and your fellow
players as we work out some of the details to make
the performances successful.
Only two rehearsals remaining before our next
ArtsGarden Concert! That's right. We have April
19th (Jose' conducting) and May 3rd. The other two
Friday evenings are spent in concerts.
Birksire Concert is next week! Remember the
concert is at 7 PM so plan to be set up by 6:45.
We'll do a repeat of the concert in the Artsgarden.
iRemember, too, that each concert is important and
sets precedence for our performance standard. Be
sure to let Lydia Stephens know if you cannot be
with us.
Can you help with rehearsal refreshments? I was
pleasantly surprised at the number of conversations
and introductions that took place during the
rehearsal on the 15th. I have a feeling that most of
you enjoyed the cookies and soft drinks during the
break. I will pass a sign up sheet for volunteers to
schedule rehearsal refreshments. Thank you for
your help!
What is our Mission?
the content of a mission statement for the orchestra,
please give them to Bill McAdow or Jim Wells and
we will see that your ideas are considered.
Do you have reliable email? We can cut
communication costs considerably by using email.
The ability to open attachments in MS Word is also
important. Please sign email address sheet tonight to
help me get an orchestra mailing list together.
Don't have email? That's okay. We'll use your
mailing address or phone number to make sure you
get the information you need.
Jim Wells' Email is jwellshorn(5)hotmail.com.
Feel free to email me if needed.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!! We would love to know
the day of your birth—that's day. . . not date. Life is
worth celebrating, and you never know when
someone wants to help you celebrate by letting you
know they are glad you choose to spend some of
your life helping them to make music in the APO.

The Athenaeum Orchestra has a wonderful
heritage and is very much a part of the cultural
history of Central Indiana. In order to ensure the
ongoing success of the orchestra, it is necessary to
develop a mission statement consistent with the
ongoing work of the orchestra to be used in guiding
khe group in decisions for the future. It is also
Necessary that grant-awarding organizations know
that we have a mission and are fulfilling it to the
best of our ability. If you have ideas concerning
