From the
Music Director
For those of you who were at last
week's rehearsal, I thank you.
You worked verv hard and I think
the rehearsal was closer to the
music-focused, congenial feeling
that we expect will help grow this
group and keep it running for a
long time.
We're now at the end of a very
tough month and a half. By
August 21, you'll have managed to
present three different concerts in
three weeks. And, recognize that
you'll have put together the last
two concerts in just two rehearsals
each. That's incredibly good.
We're working to put together a
time for us to listen to Cathy
Morris's music to hear how we can
support her jazz solos with our
orchestra. I'd like to use this as a
huge fund-raising opportunity.
We're just looking for an
agreeable date just now.
And, of course, I am now planning
the Christmas concert. I'm
looking for suggestions of favorite
tunes from you so, if you have any,
please feel free to talk to me.
Next Two
Rehearsals
Due to fund-raising efforts at the
Athenaeum and the annual floor -
refinishing, we will be rehearsing
at the Fireman's Union Hall in the
historic Firehouse at the corner of
St. Clair and Massachusetts
Avenue and College Avenue.
They have most generously
allowed us to use their hall, free of
charge.
You will have to bring your own
stands. There will be limited
parking in the parking lot, west of
the building on St. Clair Street.
There is also on-street parking on
the south side of St. Clair, east and
west sides of Broadway, North
side of Arch Street, and free
parking on Massachusetts Avenue.

Message from the
President
I'd like to congratulate everyone
on their performances on two
challenging concerts during a short
period of time. We still have a lot
of work ahead of us with our
Artsgarden, Garfield Park, and
September 7th Athenaeum
performances. Before you know it,
it'll be time to start working on
Christmas music. Thank you in
advance for your hard work and
professionalism in both the
rehearsals and concerts we have
coming up. We will again be short
of time and have challenging music
to perform; therefore, I ask
everyone to be at their best.
Thank you,
Bill McAdow
