Urban Times is a monthly newsmagazine (published every month except January) which serves as the “official neighborhood newsletter” for thirteen Indianapolis neighborhoods. As of October 2015, Urban Times is distributed to over 7,000 homes in these Downtown and near-Downtown Indianapolis neighborhoods: Lockerbie Square, Chatham Arch, St. Joseph, The Old Northside, Herron-Morton Place, Woodruff Place, Cottage Home, Ransom Place, Fletcher Place, Fall Creek Place, Holy Cross, Historic Meridian Park and Garfield Park. Urban Times is also available for free pickup at both indoor and outdoor newsstands in the area.
Urban Times is also heavily committed to news of the business community in the newsmagazine’s distribution area, as well as development news and arts-and-entertainment news. Because most of the neighborhoods are historic preservation district, Urban Times also has a strong focus on both preservation and local history.
Urban Times was launched in August 2005 when editor and publisher Bill Brooks merged two neighborhood newsletters, The Lockerbie Letter and The Keyhole (The Old Northside), adding Chatham Arch and St. Joseph. Since that time, the other neighborhoods have petitioned to join the family.
