The Highland-Kessler Civic League (HKCL) is a volunteer neighborhood association that provides a forum for residents to discuss and act on community issues, plan and conduct community programs, and keep residents informed on matters of interest to the community. The boundaries of the Highland-Kessler Civic League are Kessler Boulevard, West Drive to the North; Michigan Road to the West and the White River to the East and South. Landmarks within the boundaries include the Highland Country Club, the DeHaan Estate and the former Ruth Lilly Estate. The boundaries include around 300 homes. HKCL encompasses a wooded residential area within easy driving distance to universities, hospitals, public and private schools, museums and downtown Indianapolis.
The League is governed by an elected board and officers. The League holds annual events including an Easter Egg Hunt, July 4th Parade, chipper and dumpster service and garage sale. The HKCL digital collection spans nearly 40 years, and includes the League's newsletters, board minutes, board rosters and event notices.
