In 2013, members of the Facebook group "When Herron Was Cool", all alumni of the Herron School of Art and Design, gathered for their third unofficial reunion. Called "The Reunion Project", the gathering was hosted at the former location of the art college at 16th and Pennsylvania. Currently the buildings are home to the charter school, Herron High School.
The reunion was a three-day celebration that took place from October 31st through November 2nd, and involved three main activities: a gallery show of alumni work, a community day, and a Halloween dance/party. The gallery exhibition was hosted at the Harrison Center for the Arts, and the Community Day and Halloween Dance were hosted by Herron High School.
As part of the reunion celebration, attendees were invited to contribute audio recollections, video recollections, and photo/memorabilia to an archive commemorating their time as students at the old location. The following collection is a presentation of the materials that were gathered.
The festivities were organized by The Cool School Project, an LLC that was established in 2013. Monies collected from the event were given to the Herron School of Art and Design and Herron High School with the intention of inspiring high school students to pursue art as a career. For that reason the gifts to the college were in the form of scholarships to their Saturday School Program.
